In the first period, Walters opened the scoring for Gillette with a goal at 0:32 with assists from his linemates, Varty and Conroy. Walters netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:46 with helpers from his linemates, Conroy and Conti. Scoggins quickly followed with a goal at 8:42 with assists from Mitzel and Peterson.
In the second, Thompson put in a goal at 9:33 with a helper from Stockert. Charnholm quickly followed with a goal at 10:21 with assists from his linemates, Miller and Cook.
During the third period, Oberg answered for Gillette with a goal at 4:16 with helpers from his linemates, Thompson and Morey. Oberg netted a goal at 15:35 with assists from his linemates, Mitzel and Stockert.
The Wild’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Grogan as he stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced. Grogan’s counterpart, Thompson, also had a big night, managing to stop 55 of 61, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Gillette Wild’s record to (4-9-1-0).
