Gillette Wild goalie Jake Turek was awarded the NA3HL Frontier Division Bauer Hockey 2nd Star of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. The North Branch, MN, native stopped 55-of-58 shots, including four-of-six he faced in a shoot-out, against Granite City on Saturday night at Spirit Hall Ice Arena. In two starts this season, Turek has turned away 83-of-86 (96.5 SV%) shots he’s faced, and has a 1.44 goals-against-average.
Forward JP Johnson was recognized with Frontier Division Honorable Mention honors. The St. Michael, MN, native had a goal and assist against Granite City on Saturday night. In six games this season Johnson has recorded 11-points, scoring seven-goals, five coming on the power play, and assisting on four others.
