Taylor Garner had two goals and two assists to lead the Gillette Wild to a 7-2 victory over Glacier.
Garner's tallies came at 8:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gillette and 18:06 into the third to make the score 7-2 Gillette.
Gillette pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.
The Wild's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Glacier power plays. Glacier was unable to stop Gillette from sending pucks towards the net, and the Wild eventually piled up 69 shots on goal. Gillette's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
Gillette additionally got points from Trent Dillinger, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Austin Tennant, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Gillette included Trevor Ruiz, TJ McMinn, and Brandon Beard, who each put in one. In addition, Gillette received assists from Bryce Mitzel, Lance Pennington, and Mitchell McEwan, who each chipped in one and Rob Lantz and Michael Burke, who contributed two each.
Glacier forced the Wild goalie Sean Kelley to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.
Glacier was helped by Sam Shaheen, who registered one goal. Shaheen scored 43 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glacier. Wyatt Fretheim also scored for Glacier.
Kelley recorded 35 saves for Gillette. The Wild registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Nolan Slager made 62 saves for Glacier on 69 shots. Glacier incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
