Alex King had two goals to lead the Gillette Wild to a 6-3 victory over the Billings Bulls.
King's tallies came at 16:14 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and 4:11 into the third to make the score 4-2 Gillette.
Gillette excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Wild kept Billings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Meagher made 31 saves on 37 shots. Gillette found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Wild average 3.7 goals per contest.
Gillette also got points from Mitchell Huffman, who also had one goal and one assist. Dalton McCann also scored for Gillette. Other players who recorded assists for Gillette were Cade Boreing, who had two, Kyle Reilly, who had three, and Bryce Mitzel, Ryan Bochert, and Darren Banks, who contributed one each.
The Bulls forced Gillette goalie Sean Kelley to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.
Billings was led by Tristan Henrichs, who grabbed two goals. Henrichs scored the first of his two goals at 15:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Billings. Sawyer Scanlan picked up the assist. Henrichs' next tally made the score 4-3 Gillette with 5:49 left in the third period. Cameron Birklid assisted on the tally. Billings also got a goal from Josh Pena as well. In addition, Billings received assists from Nick Rizzo, who had two.
Kelley recorded 30 saves for the Wild. Gillette incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bulls incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
