Cody Grogan posted a shutout, stopping all 36 of the Missoula Junior Bruins shots throughout the game. The Gillette Wild took the lead early in the first on a goal from Andrew Hanson and never looked back.
Coleman Varty had a busy night with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Jack Oberg did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
During the first period, Hanson opened the scoring for Gillette with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 2:28 with a helper from defenseman Smith. Varty put in a goal at 11:32 with helpers from Stockert and Scoggins.
In the second, Oberg deposited a goal at 2:35 with assists from his linemates, Stockert and Thompson. Feagins netted a goal at 7:15 with assists from Mitzel and Peterson.
During the third period, Mitzel scored a goal at 0:40 with helpers from his linemates, Oberg and Stockert. Walters deposited a goal at 5:02 with assists from his linemates, Varty and Grogan.
The Wild’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Grogan’s shutout, as he stopped all 36 of the shots he faced. Grogan’s counterpart, Wiest, also had a big night, managing to stop 23 of 29, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Gillette Wild’s record to (18-19-2-2).
