Adam Ranck stood on his head and made 34 saves to lead Helena to a 2-1 victory over Gillette.
Helena was led by Blake Babineau, who finished with one goal. Babineau scored 14:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Helena.
Helena\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Gillette power plays. Gillette was unable to stop Helena from sending pucks towards the net, and Helena eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.
Helena also got a goal from Matt Blassic as well. In addition, Helena received assists from Jay Forbes and Cody Vanthournout, who each chipped in one.
Gillette stifled Helena\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gillette did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Gillette puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Gillette forced Helena goalie Ranck to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.
Gillette was led by Alex King, who scored the team\’s only goal. King scored 12:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gillette.
Helena incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gillette\’s Alex Feese stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Gillette incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Gillette, Colt Johnson was ejected from the game.
