Alex Feese had a standout game with 38 saves, and the Gillette Wild beat the Yellowstone Quake 5-1.
Gillette was sparked by TJ McMinn, who registered one goal. McMinn scored 2:21 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Gillette. Brandon Beard picked up the assist.
The Wild stifled Yellowstone\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gillette forced the Quake goalie Sean Leahy to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.
Gillette also got points from Bryce Mitzel, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Gillette also had goals scored by Dalton McCann, Alex King, and Darren Banks, who each put in one. In addition, Gillette received assists from Trevor Ruiz, Lance Pennington, Kyle Traux, Rob Lantz, Brett Kramer, and Kyle Reilly, who each chipped in one.
Yellowstone\’s offense rang up 39 shots on the Wild\’s net.
The Quake were led by Sawyer Scanlan, who scored the team\’s only goal. Scanlan scored 17:04 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Gillette. Sean Pilet assisted on the tally.
Gillette incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Leahy recorded 39 saves for Yellowstone. The Quake incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
